The old adage is true, there’s strength in numbers.  As our numbers grow, so does our ability to bring needed changes to the nanny field.  So please take a few minutes and join NANC today.  Without your support, our industry will continue on its all too familiar path.  In-home childcare will continue to be the only segment of the childcare profession without the safety net of minimum standards.  “Nanny” will continue to be the catch-all phrase for any person working with children in a private home, regardless of their experience, education or ability.  Abusive and neglectful caregivers will continue to dominate the news.  And the nannies who work everyday to provide quality, consistent care will continue to lose the battle for professional respect and recognition.

NANC membership offers many benefits including our e-newsletter, our membership directory, our online business directory, our educational resources and the opportunity to participate in our Businesses Promoting Education program.   But the most valuable benefit we offer is the work we’re doing, the real and lasting changes we’re making.  We hope you’ll join us.

Business Promoting Education Membership Information

Goal of Business Promoting Education Initiative

To encourage nanny-related businesses across the nation to actively participate in nanny training, supporting a better trained nanny workforce.  This will also greatly increase the number and type of educational opportunities available to the nanny community.

Businesses Promoting Education Member Commitment

¨        The member business agrees to organize, promote, and present one educational course during its membership year.

¨        The specific topic of the course is at the discretion of the business.  However, the topic must be educational in nature.

¨        The course must be open to all local in-home childcare providers.  No provider can be excluded due to agency affiliation, age, sex, or ethnicity.

¨        The member business must make an substantive effort to include all in-home childcare providers in the area, not just those associated with the business.

¨        The course must be offered free of charge.

¨        Businesses may work together to offer required courses, providing one course is offered for each participating business (e.g. two placement agencies and a tax service work together to provide a day of professional development for nannies, offering a course on tax issues, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and positive discipline).

¨        The member business must submit an event summary within 30 calendar days of the event.

Business Promoting Education Members will receive…

¨        A Business Promoting Education member banner included in your NANC website listing.

¨        An event listing in our quarterly e-newsletter.

¨        An event listing on our online educational calendar.

¨        A support package including a sample press release, tips on locating speakers, securing meeting space, and effectively promoting your event.
